Vision for DisDos
DisDos has truly been a beautiful wish come true. When I observed people of different backgrounds collaborating with each other at DisDos, I felt very grateful to see people of different races, ethnicities, gender, and different backgrounds unite together under the same roof with the same excitement that I had: seeking to start something new on the journey of science. I have always sought to build inclusive communities with my team and become a part of events that can create an environment for promoting science. I hope that the spirit of DisDos continues with people seeking to stay connected and develop more long-lasting relationships with science advocates across fields.

I would like to cordially welcome everyone to explore Diversity in Science and Diversity of Science. By intersecting various scientific specialties and working together, we can become a stronger human race that seeks to make positive differences that count.
Hello!
Taha is a medical assistant, scribe, and pharmacy technician who has experience working in West Virginia, USA and Niger (West Africa). Working as a full-time medical assistant and scribe, I assisted patients in mobility, hygiene care, dressing and counseling. By monitoring them as I documented their vital signs and health statuses in the database, I rapidly and succinctly reported the patients' conditions upon Dr. Roumar’s check in. Reviewing my notes and verifying the clinical protocols, I confirmed the medications and sanitizer were ready as I administered IV injections to the patients. To assist in addressing the increasing cases and panic for COVID-19, I volunteered in patient counseling on COVID-19 prevention, contact case tracing, testing and assisting the pharmacy technician in database and stock management. I sought to implement some of my clinical experience into my passion for research.

Early in 2020, the COVID-19 pandemic had propagated globally yet virtually no papers analyzed its impacts on humans. Working 5 hours weekly, I designed a random sampling survey-based study investigating the impacts of COVID-19 on physical, social, and mental health of QU students. I statistically analyzed the results based on the health and education/work affected by COVID-19 or quarantine policies. Expanding on situational impacts on health, I co-created a survey-based study on assessing family communication on longevity in Costa Rica, a Blue Zone, marked with centenarians, and another study of using cognitive dissonance to promote healthy behaviors. I am analyzing results for a publication.

During my leisure time, I enjoy exploring new worlds by playing video games, hiking trails, video editing, cooking new dishes, making my own food recipes, and spending time with family members and friends. I also am an expert in programming languages including Java and have coded several of my own simulation programs!
