Format and requirements of presentations
The format of the presentations can be poster, oral, or creative (such as an artwork, song, TedTalk-style, trivia style, etc., but a creative presentation will need to be indicated as such in the call for proposals form and approved by the steering committee). We promote creative presentations as well to not limit the scope of the presentations and to give more freedom to the speaker to express their points in whichever manner they deem to be appropriate and effective.
The duration of these presentations is 15 minutes (7 minutes presentation + 8 minutes Q/A), and the format of the presentations can vary from oral, poster, and creative presentations.
Workshops
The workshops will last for 45 minutes total. 20 minutes will be the presentations, and 25 minutes will be the Q/A time.
The purpose of the workshops is to focus on teaching a useful skill or sharing valuable insight to medical students, especially that which cannot easily be found by simply searching online. Senior doctors from the US and UK such as residency program directors and attendants will host online via Zoom workshops on their residency programs and advice on what they are looking for in ERAS applications that are appropriate for the expectations and work environment of their residency program. There will be an opportunity for the audience members to ask questions in a monitored chat as Q/A after the presentation is over.
In-person poster and oral presentations
15 minutes each presentation (7 minute presentation + 8 minute Q/A)

Posters will be hung up, and there will be a session where audience members can walk around and stop by posters. The speakers are asked to stay by their posters for a specific allotted time that will be assigned on the day of the conference. Specific requests can be sent to Yamna Siddiqui at yimranhu@sgu.edu by August 17, 2024. Oral presentations will take place in break-out rooms.
Virtual poster and oral presentations
15 minutes each presentation (7 minute presentation + 8 minute Q/A)

We will have break-out sessions for poster and oral sessions. All our presentation sessions will have trained moderators along with monitored chat on Zoom for the audience to interact with the speakers and avoid interruptions in the presentations.
