How do I get involved with DisDos?
You can RSVP and/or sign up to present by submitting an abstract at https://forms.office.com/r/4WwrDHh2wU by April 23, 2023 at 11:59 pm EST. If you want to get involved with organizing the conference or are interested in a tabling session for the exhibitor fair, reach out to Yamna Siddiqui, President and Founder of DisDos, at yamnasiddiqui63@gmail.com.

What is included in the cost of my registration?
Enjoy a buffet of continental breakfast along with a coupon of US $14 for lunch from Café Q at Quinnipiac University. Come to network with expert scientists, entrepreneurs, U.S. Navy, and many more! You also can pick up free Quinnipiac University merchandise and take away a certificate as proof of attending a regional conference.

Can I cancel my registration?
Yes, you can cancel your registration at any time by reaching out to Yamna Siddiqui at yamna.siddiqui@quinnipiac.edu.

Can I register on-site on the day of DisDos?
RSVP is highly recommended and is preferred prior to the event. However, if absolutely necessary, then we will still be happy to register you for the event on-site, but dining will only be available if there is sufficient breakfast and lunch coupons for the pre-registered guests and there are leftovers.

Everyone is welcome! The regionwide conference focuses on the interests of science advocates especially in New England universities. Come and meet scientists, experts, doctors, Ph.D. students, the U.S. Navy, business leaders, and several other professionals who can expand your network and help build your career. Make a lasting impact with the family of DisDos.

The hosting organizations of DisDos are the April 2021 - May 2023 American Society of Microbiology Student Chapter at Quinnipiac University (QU) and the Student Organ Donation Advocates Student Chapter at QU (Presidents of both organizations are Yamna Siddiqui and Taha Siddiqui).

We cordially thank the E-board of the April 2021 - May 2023 American Society of Microbiology Student Chapter at Quinnipiac University (QU) and the Student Organ Donation Advocates Student Chapter at QU, the QU Student Government Association, and the QU Biomedical Sciences department for funding DisDos. We are also very grateful for the steering committee, QU School of Health Sciences, QU College of Arts and Sciences, professors and students of QU, the QU Student Government Association, and everyone who supported DisDos! We appreciate Dr. Lisa Cuchara, Ph.D. for capturing precious moments on camera and Lily Philipczak for interviewing the speakers and attendees and writing about DisDos in the QU newspaper: QU Chronicle. DisDos is truly an example of incredible teamwork!

Who are the keynote speakers of DisDos?
Dr. Annika Barber, Ph.D. and Dr. Jessica Henty-Ridilla, Ph.D. are the very friendly keynote speakers. Dr. Barber is an assistant professor and biochemist in the Waksman Institute & Department of Molecular Biology and Biochemistry at Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey. Dr. Henty-Ridilla is an assistant professor at SUNY Upstate Medical University. Come listen to their brilliant research on biological timekeeping in a 24 hour world (Dr. Barber's research) and cytoskeleton and neurodegeneration (Dr. Henty-Ridilla's research)! Who are the guest speakers? Is there an exhibitor fair? If so, who are the exhibitors at the exhibitor fair? Who are the poster presenters during the poster sessions?
The guest speakers are Beck Lamb (Associate Director of Admissions of St. George's University), Dr. Carrie Ann (Ph.D. candidate in the departments of genetics and neuroscience at Yale University), Andrew Jones (Multicultural Community Outreach Coordinator of New England Donor Services), Dhara Singh (Storytelling Consultant and former Journalist and U.N. speaker), Dr. Iván Tirado, Ph.D. (Coach at GINA Healing and Wellness Center), Dr. Ivelisse Rivera-Godreau, M.D. (physician at GINA Healing and Wellness Center), Lieutenant Bolton (U.S. Navy, Medical Service Corp and Recruiting), Lieutenant Bylsma (U.S. Navy), and Lieutenant Commander Goff (U.S. Navy).

Yes. There is an exhibitor fair and poster sessions. The exhibitors are Beck Lamb, Dr. Iván Tirado, Dr. Ivelisse Rivera-Godreau, and Dhara Singh, and the poster presenters are Dr. Shawna Reed, Ph.D., Alex Jacoby, Genna Mullen, William DuPont, Kelly Frier, Priya Patel, Pam Chonweerawong, and Yamna Siddiqui.

The career panelists are Juliana Ansari (Research Scientist and Quality Manager at AtlasXomics, Inc.), Kirsten Famiglietti (Associate Scientist at PhenomeX/IsoPlexis), Isabella Diaz Alba (Research Technician at the Schneider Lab in NYU Grossman), Nicholas Shiner (Immunology Specialist at STEMCELL Technologies), Daniel Lenchner (Postgraduate Associate in the Center of Molecular & Cellcular Oncology at the Yale School of Medicine), and Beck Lamb (Associate Director of Admissions of St. George's University).

What networking and career building opportunities does DisDos offer? Where can I access the DisDos 2023 schedule?
Enjoy a personal statement workshop hosted by St. George's University School of Medicine (largest provider of doctors into 1st-year U.S. residencies); Q&A and presentation with Carrie Ann (a Yale Ph.D. student in the department of genetics and neuroscience); opportunities to get involved with New England Donor Services and talk with Andrew Jones (Multicultural Outreach Coordinator); learning how to tell your story effectively and powerfully with the Storytelling Consultant Dhara Singh; finding an internship or involvement with GINA Healing and Wellness Center with Dr. Ivelisse, M.D. and Dr. Tirado, Ph.D; enrolling in an opportunity in Academic Medicine with the U.S. Navy; and exploring new biochemistry research and lab work led by the extremely talented Dr. Barber, Ph.D. from Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey and Dr. Henty-Ridilla, Ph.D. from SUNY Medical Upstate University.

When will the next DisDos conference take place?
The vision for DisDos is to continue to host more conferences and invite world-class scientists to present. We are hoping to host another DisDos conference in Spring 2024 and will continue to work hard to come back with an even bigger and more dynamic conference!
